Will the future of automobile be “without windshield wipers” ? This seems to be the next step in the automotive evolution.
At McLaren's factory, in Woking, UK, an engineering team is working on a new technology, based on aeronautics principles, to eliminate traditional “brushes wiper”, introduced back in 1903. The new device, working on high frequency sound waves, would prevent rain, snow and every type of bugs to settle on the windshield.
Wiper is “one of the last strongholds that design technology has not been able to defeat, yet”, said Frank Stephenson, Design Engineering Manager at McLaren.
According to the Telegraph, this new ultrasound system may debut on the market in 2015.
